Wojciech Fangor – “E 6”
E 6 was created in 1965 in London. It is an oil painting on canvas measuring 127 × 127 cm, and belongs to Wojciech Fangor’s exploration of new ways of representing space and engaging the viewer’s perception.
FANGOR Foundation classifies E 6 as a work featuring a circle motif, belonging to the category of positive illusory space. Its geometric forms and interplay of colours create a composition that moves beyond the traditional understanding of painting as a flat surface. For Fangor, the focus was not only on the form itself, but also on the way it is perceived by the viewer.
The work was first exhibited at Grabowski Gallery in London in 1966. It is documented in the Catalogue Raisonné of Wojciech Fangor, maintained by FANGOR Foundation, under catalogue number P.491.
