Edward Dwurnik (1943–2018) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw at the Departments of Painting and Sculpture (1963–1970), graduating under the supervision of Eugeniusz Eibisch (1970). Influenced by the work of Nikifor, whom he encountered in 1965, he painted works characterized by a simplified graphic form and bold, grotesque realism. These works formed extensive painting cycles, organized by the artist according to themes and motifs.

In the 1990s, Dwurnik created a large-format series "Błękitne" (Blue), which differed from his representative figurative compositions. One of the paintings in this series, "Błękitny (Nr 1830)", depicts a seascape. The entire canvas surface is covered by waves arranged in horizontal bands. While the painting appears abstract, it presents a real scene inspired by a photograph taken during a vacation by the Baltic Sea.
