The cover features a reproduction of N 12, painted in 1964. Softly blurred circles appear to float above the surface of the canvas, creating an illusion of depth through colour and form alone. The composition of N 12 is more focused and restrained than Fangor’s most intensely colourful works.

Wojciech Fangor (1922–2015)

Wojciech Fangor was a painter, graphic artist and theorist of art. His work centred on colour, form and perception, while his characteristic blurred shapes became one of the most recognisable elements of his painting.

In 1965, Fangor took part in The Responsive Eye exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, one of the most important presentations of optical art. In 1970, he became the first Polish artist to have a solo exhibition at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

The journal was created in collaboration with FANGOR Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving, documenting and promoting the work and legacy of Wojciech Fangor. The Foundation supports exhibitions, publications and research projects devoted to the artist.
